We posted this question to one of our business members, Eco Friendly Printer:
Do you see any business printing trends at your business? For example, are new types of paper stock being requested? Is there a drop or increase in certain printing requests?
The trend over the past 5 years is to print just what you need for a show or for a presentation. In the past, we encouraged our clients to buy more, as the price per unit came down. Today, digital printing is so competitive, that our clients want just what they need for their event.
We see more digital papers being made and in more sizes. We feature several digital presses. One press needs 12 x 18 paper, and the next needs 13 x 19 paper, and the next needs 14.33 x 20.5, and now we can print on 13.75 x 25.5 . We get more units up on a sheet. For example, we now can process a gatefold brochure that is 11 x 25.5 folded to 8.5 x 11 (6 pages). This gatefold is substantially lower in price than going to a large (offset) press.
There is a notable demand for more environmentally friendly printing. We stock 100% Recycled Paper (All 100% Post-Consumer Waste). Also, the inks are nontoxic. The bleaching of the paper is Chlorine Free.
We have noticed a reduction in post cards and greeting cards. There is more constant contact and mail chimp type mailings. However, as emailing usage increases, many people will not read those emails, as they are exhausted from too many. We forecast more clients asking for more postcards and brochures. Printing and mailing ought to yield a better ROI. If you spend more to print, but your orders are a lot higher, printing is the way to go.
At Eco Friendly Printer, we see more banners, posters and window cling orders. In response to client demand, we are also seeing labels that have less plastic in them than poly labels.
